C02-URANUS

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the Crest variations, C02-URANUS has been released as the next new kit. Rather than being a parts-combination kit like Gaia or Crest, this is an entirely new kit built from scratch, head to toe. It does share one backpack weapon with the Crest normal version, but every other part is brand new.

As you can see, the color scheme is identical to the existing Selena, and while the silhouette is much slimmer than Selena, the assembly style feels oddly similar. Selena had a notoriously large number of tiny fiddly parts that required a lot of care during assembly, but thanks to that, the color separation was about as close to perfect as it gets. C02-URANUS similarly has a lot of small parts, so the color separation is excellent — but it does make for a kit that's a bit of a pain to put together. As a result, it takes quite a bit longer to build than it looks, roughly the time it'd take to build about three MGs.

Another thing — Selena had somewhat weak joints due to its bulk, but thankfully C02-URANUS has a slender frame so joint issues are barely a concern. Articulation is also among the best of any Armored Core kit, with kneeling poses coming out quite naturally and most action poses pulling off without a hitch.

Anyway, this is a kit that demands more care with small parts than just about any other Armored Core kit, so it does require a bit of patience to build — but once finished, the color separation, articulation, and joint strength are all satisfying, which is why I'd consider it one of the top-tier kits in the Armored Core lineup. :-)
