This kit is Gii, released as part of Kotobukiya's Arcanadia series. One notable thing is that the name is just a single character — incredibly simple. She's a child-type character who's more than a third shorter than previous entries in the series, but despite the small size, she comes packed with a generous set of options and impressive wing volume.
First thing that'll surprise you is the large, thick box and the sheer number of runners — plus that ¥9,800 price tag — all for such a small figure. It's small but densely packed, and like an RG, there are a lot of tiny parts, so the build difficulty is on the higher side. Also, more parts actually go into the 10-segment articulated tail, the massive wings, and the various effect parts than into the body itself. Thanks to all that, while she's short in height, she's got impressive volume going sideways.
In Normal Mode, she comes with thick, long-sleeved arms that you can choose to use either as flexible articulated arms or swapped out for fixed bent-pose arms. You can also swap between 5 faces with unique expressions, and one of those faces has a mouth hole where you can plug in the breath effect parts. In Wyrise Mode, the wings can be spread out over a wide area, and you can bend the tips to add some dynamism. The hold is really solid — no matter what angle you spread and position them, they stay put.
On top of that, blue flame-shaped arm parts are also included, and when you spread the wings in Wyrise Mode and use them together, the result is incredibly striking. Even at this small size, the variety of accessories and the spectacular wings make for some really dynamic poses relative to the scale. And the solid hold from the body all the way to the wings gives the whole thing a great sense of stability — that's a big plus.
As you'd expect from Kotobukiya's top-tier plastic model lineup, the overall visuals and build quality feel quite premium. She's on the smaller side, but this is a kit that makes its case with a packed set of gimmicks, impressive weapons, and accessories. Either way, the kit itself is a well-executed girlpla with nothing to complain about — if the style appeals to you, it's definitely worth opening your wallet for. :-)
