This kit is Aruaril, released as part of Kotobukiya's Arcarnadia series. It's a character known for its elaborate wings and chicken-feet, and comes with a hefty amount of runners and parts. Just like previous releases, it can be built in either the slimmed-down Normal Mode or the fully armed Wrise Mode.
In Normal Mode, large feathers are attached at the waist, but in Wrise Mode these feathers move up to the head — replaced instead by much larger wings and reverse-jointed bird-style legs. On top of that, the arm section of the demon-form familiar included as an accessory can be mounted onto the wings, allowing it to grip the spear in place of the figure's own hands. The large wings from Wrise Mode can also be mounted in place of the Normal Mode arms using joint parts.
One of the biggest highlights of this kit is the three different forms of the familiar. First, you can build it either stored inside a lamp — like the genie from Aladdin — or out in demon form. You can also gather up various parts like the Wrise Mode wings, chicken feet, and rear unit to assemble a bird form. It's got a commanding, large presence and some impressive gimmicks to show off. Two stands are included for this purpose, so you can display the main figure alongside either the demon-form or bird-form familiar at the same time.
There's a wide variety of gimmicks and joints on offer, but overall joint strength is solid so stability isn't really an issue. That said, Wrise Mode has so many moving parts that you'll find yourself fussing over the angles every time you try to strike a pose — it's definitely a hands-on kit. If you prefer something sturdy and easy to handle, the setup might feel a bit fiddly.
Still, as a girlpla it's come out at a pretty decent quality level — though whether you'll love it really comes down to how you feel about the visual design. The face and body proportions lean quite mature, so if you're after something cute and adorable it might feel a little too grown-up. On the flip side, if the style is right up your alley, this is a premium girl-pla kit that's well worth enjoying. :-)
