Kotobukiya Border Break

Kisei Hashiki

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the release of the Kisei/Koushiki from the PS4 version of Border Break, the Kisei Hashiki is now out as well. The basic frame is the same as the Kisei/Koushiki, but some details and weapons have been changed, and the molded colors have shifted dramatically. The colors are so much darker that the change in color scheme hits you way harder than any of the detail changes.

That said, if you look closely, there are quite a few design changes — the head, knees, side binders, shoulders, and more. The weapons on the back have all been redesigned as well, and a new fold-out pistol has been added to the back of the forearm. The glide charger added to the back lets you choose between open or closed positions for each side, and just like the Kisei/Koushiki, the side booster nozzles articulate forward and backward.

Since the main body frame is unchanged, the articulation and joint strength are exactly the same as the Kisei/Koushiki. The joints still feel pretty stiff — solid enough that there are no stability issues, but stiff to the point where moving them feels like a bit much. Sure, that's way better than loose joints, but you'll want to be careful not to snap the wrong parts while forcing things to move.

Anyway, the overall quality is top-tier even among Kotobukiya kits, and the deep, rich colors actually make it feel a bit cooler than the washed-out Kisei/Koushiki. The real issue, as always, is the jaw-dropping price of ¥12,000 for what you get... but the choice is yours. ^^;
