Following the Ingram Unit 1, the D-Style AV-XO Zero has now been released.
The AV-XO Zero got left out of Bandai's MG Ingram series, which was a real shame — so it's great to see it show up in D-Style form ahead of the Unit 2/3 variations. ^^
The kit's overall composition is pretty much identical to the Ingram Unit 1, with a good portion of the runners coming pre-painted, so you can achieve pretty much the exact intended colors straight from a straight build. The articulation and proportions are also similar to the Ingram Unit 1, though the AV-XO Zero's slightly slimmer design might actually give it a slight edge in the proportions department.
The kit comes with a shield, riot baton, and even wrist extension parts as options, letting you recreate that fingertip-attack pose. As a bonus, you can also swap parts to show the red mono-eye exposed in the berserk state — it's a detachable setup, which is a nice touch. There's quite a bit of value packed in here. And since D-Style kits are on the smaller side, the snap-fit holds together surprisingly well, so you can build it without glue and it'll be just fine.
Like all D-Style SD kits, this lineup wins you over with pure cuteness — and the D-Style Patlabor series absolutely delivers on that front. Once you've built it, it's just adorable @_@ .. Kotobukiya's trademark "pricey for what's in the box" thing is still there, but looking at all those nicely pre-painted parts, it really does feel worth the money. Patlabor fans should definitely grab this one, and honestly, even just judging it purely on kit quality and fun factor, it's a charming little gem that's easy to recommend to anyone. :-)
