Kit Review
Straight build
Straight build
The Patlabor series is the standout of the D Style lineup, and the latest entry — the Ingram Reactive Armor Convertible Kit — has just been released. It comes with both Unit 1 and Unit 2 heads right out of the box, letting you build either configuration, though Unit 2 is clearly the main concept of the kit.
First off, the Reactive Armor version looks completely different from the normal type except for the legs and part of the lower body, so about two-thirds of the runners are made up of new parts. The green reactive armor on the body and the blue rubber sections on the forearms are faithfully color-separated, so even a straight build gets you a pretty solid color scheme, and the poses characteristic of the Ingram are well reproduced too.
The included Unit 2 head for the Reactive Armor is an entirely new design, while the Unit 1 head uses the same structure and parts as the existing normal version. In addition, a green clear part and a swappable visor part are included as extras.
This kit is plenty cute and fun on its own, but it'd look even better alongside the other D Style Patlabor kits. Here's hoping we'll see more Patlabor kits in D Style down the line — like Unit 3 or the Brocken. :-)
