M9 Gernsback

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the Arbalest, the M9 Gernsback has now been released in D-Style as well. Some parts are shared with the Arbalest as per the source material, but many parts have been newly redesigned for the M9 Gernsback. The darker color scheme definitely gives it the feel of a completely different unit.

The overall kit style is the same as the Arbalest, and just like previous releases, the focus is on looks rather than articulation, so posability isn't great. And like the Arbalest, the partial paint feels a little lacking, so there's a bit of a gap between the straight build and the official colors. That said, given the nature of D-Style, it still looks cute enough straight out of the box.. ^^

The weapons loadout is generous, covering a machine gun, pistol, anti-tank daggers, and even a sniper rifle. The style is pretty decent too — aside from the rather hollow-looking backs on the weapons (^^;). You can put it together fine without glue, but separately from that, the shoulder joints do tend to pop out during posing, which is a bit of a pain.

Anyway, if you're a Full Metal Panic fan, this is an absolutely adorable must-have item alongside the Arbalest. If you had to pick just one between the Arbalest and the M9 Gernsback, I'd personally recommend the M9 Gernsback for its better color scheme :-)
