Choryujin is a mech formed by the combination of the blue Hyoryu (Ice Dragon) and the red Enryu (Flame Dragon), each of which can also transform individually into a vehicle (fire truck) form and a robot form — and the D-Style Choryujin recreates all of these features. The blue Hyoryu and red Enryu are essentially mirror-image twin kits, and the transformation between vehicle mode and robot mode is pulled off nicely through a smart use of swappable parts. Even after combining into Choryujin, the two halves lock together solidly thanks to the backpack, head, and Mirror Shield on the chest, so the stability after transformation and combination is pretty decent.

As is typical with small transformation kits like this, the transformation gimmick means most of the articulation has been cut — Hyoryu, Enryu, and Choryujin all end up with fixed legs, with only the arms and neck able to move, which is just something you have to accept. That said, compared to King J-Der, another combining/transforming robot kit, this one feels like a step up in terms of overall quality, color, and appearance across the board ^^

The transformation process is a bit trickier than you might expect, and the articulation is limited, but the real appeal of this kit is how they managed to cram all those transformation and combination gimmicks into such a small package. For GaoGaiGar fans, the fact that a Choryujin plastic model has finally been released — and in this form — is pretty significant in itself :-)
