The Shield Liger has been released as part of the D-Style Zoids lineup, and can be considered a variation of the Blade Liger kit. In the normal order of things, the Shield Liger probably should have come out first, but D-Style went the other way around.. Anyway, since the two share the same internal skeleton in the lore, some of the frame parts are reused from the Blade Liger.
The overall concept of the kit is the same as the Blade Liger — the leg sections are solid pieces so articulation isn't great, but the proportions are so good that even the slightest pose just oozes cuteness. The cockpit hatch opens of course, and the head cover and back weapon opening gimmicks are well reproduced too. The side weapons are also included, though as detachable pieces.
That said, the ankle assembly is a bit off, so the feet have a tendency to pop out easily, and the build process feels a little rough and not quite smooth.. On top of that, the ankle articulation isn't great either, which is a bit of a letdown. The rest of the assembly is about average, though.
Anyway, if you think of it as a small and cute Zoids kit, it's an absolutely adorable must-have. Personally, I find the Shield Liger a bit more appealing than the D-Style Blade Liger — and while the value-for-money isn't the best in this lineup, I still think it's a kit full of personality that's well worth recommending. :-)
