Command Wolf Irvine Custom

Kit Review

Straight build

The Command Wolf has finally made its appearance in the D-Style Zoids lineup. It's a unit that can spawn all kinds of variations, so plenty of color variants are expected down the line. Compared to other Zoids, it's a bit smaller and simpler-looking, which gives it an even cuter and more adorable feel.

The big head, stubby body, and short limbs all fit the D-Style concept perfectly — the proportions came out really cute — but the overall silhouette is unmistakably that of a puppy. ^^ Like most other Zoids kits, the waist and leg articulation isn't great, so you're mostly limited to a running-type pose. For the Command Wolf specifically, the most convincing pose is a running one with the front legs tucked together and the rear legs kicking back.

And then there's the pose where it's plopped down on the ground with one paw raised, like it's begging for attention — the cuteness just goes through the roof. Maybe it's because it looks even more like a puppy than the other Zoids, but it really suits this kit well.

So while the range of poses is somewhat limited, it's still a kit that's plenty cute and visually satisfying just sitting on your shelf. That said, the contents feel even more sparse than other D-Style kits, which makes it hard to avoid calling the ¥1800 price tag pretty much the worst value for money in the lineup... Either way, if you're a fan of Zoids and a fan of D-Style, the Command Wolf is definitely one you won't be able to pass up :-)
