Following GaoGaiGar and Star GaoGaiGar, Gao Figh Gar has finally gotten the D-Style treatment as well. It looks similar to GaoGaiGar at first glance, but aside from the legs and forearms, there are subtle differences throughout — and the combination consists of the core Gao Fa along with Stealth Gao III, Liner Gao II, and Drill Gao II.

The four-unit combination gimmick is pulled off pretty convincingly, and the transformations into Gao Fa and Phantom Gao are handled through the usual detach-and-swap approach. That said, just like GaoGaiGar, the transformation and combination gimmicks leave almost no room for articulation — but then again, in an SD-style kit, articulation is basically just decoration anyway ^^;

Much like GaoGaiGar, the color separation and partial painting are done really well, so even a straight build looks quite satisfying — that's definitely a big plus. The downside is that the price comes in at ¥2800, which puts it on the pricier end even among D-Style kits.

All in all, the fun little transformation and combination features combined with the colorful straight-build look are the real selling points here, making this a great gift for any GaoGaiGar fan. :-)
