Kit Review
Straight build
Straight build
Shin Getter 1, the iconic super robot mecha, has been released in D-Style. Unlike other D-Style kits, the head is a bit smaller and the proportions feel a little more slender, so it comes across as more bold than cute. Thanks to those slimmer arms and legs, the elbows, knees, and ankles all move pretty convincingly ^^
It's clear this one is closer to normal proportions than previous D-Style releases. Personally, I'm a little disappointed that it seems to be moving further and further away from the classic SD style with the big head and stubby limbs. Once it's all built up, it somehow feels more like a Revoltech than a D-Style kit.
Overall, the color separation is clean for the size and the part count is low, so it's a really satisfying straight build. You get two Getter Wings, a big Getter Tomahawk, and open hands, so there are plenty of poses to play around with — it's a fun kit to mess around with. I especially like how flexible the neck and waist joints are.
Anyway, I'm all for seeing all kinds of robot mecha getting the D-Style treatment, and I'd love to see even more giant robots and classic robots get kits down the line. Other than the somewhat steep ¥2800 price tag for the size, there's really nothing to complain about — so if you're a Getter Robo fan, this is an absolute must-have~! :-)
