Genesic Gao Gai Gar ~ The Golden Destroyer

Kit Review

Straight build

Released as a variation of the D Style Genesic Gao Gai Gar — "The Golden Destroyer" — version. The parts composition is 100% identical to the existing Genesic Gao Gai Gar, and it's essentially a plated version where a gold pearl finish has been applied to the runner surfaces.

The price went up ¥1000 for the plated version, but looking at the actual coating, it feels a bit thin. It's got that Bandai Extra Finish kind of vibe, but it's not a thick, deep coat by any means — more like a light dusting of gold pearl sprayed over the plastic. That said, it definitely has more of a sheen than just plain yellow-brown molded plastic.

On top of that, Genesic's signature flaming head color has been changed to yellow, which really does give it a more visually complete look overall. All the transformation and articulation features are identical to the normal version, and thanks to the nature of the coating, the tolerances are a bit tighter, so the joint strength feels slightly more solid too.

Anyway, since it's just a straight-up plated version there isn't a whole lot more to say, but if you've been eyeing a gold Genesic Gao Gai Gar, it's definitely worth building at the relatively reasonable price bump of ¥1000. :-)
