Rei-Dao

Kit Review

Straight build

This is the Rei-Dao, released alongside the Frame Arms Ji-Dao. Much like the Frame Arms Magatsuki and Durga before them, it's essentially a variation kit that rearranges the same parts on the body in a different configuration. For example, the Ji-Dao's legs become the arms on the Rei-Dao, while parts of the arms become the legs, and the shield is repositioned as front armor. That said, some new sculpts were added for the head and a few other parts as well.

The thing is, since the Rei-Dao is built by rearranging the same armor structure, the proportions end up feeling a bit off compared to the Ji-Dao. You could be generous and call it unique, but personally I find the overall look pretty awkward.. ^^;

Since it uses the new Architect frame skeleton, overall stability in poses is reasonably solid — but the strange top-heavy proportions make it surprisingly hard to pull off a cool-looking pose. No matter how you try to pose it, it honestly looks better just standing there doing nothing.

You could appreciate it for its unusual design, but compared to its sibling kit the Ji-Dao, opinions on the looks are going to be pretty divided. Still, the build quality is more solid than earlier kits in the line, so if this style is your thing, it should be a fun build. :-)
