Kotobukiya Frame Arms

White Tiger

Kit Review

Straight build

The White Tiger has arrived as a fresh new addition to the Frame Arms lineup. While it's technically part of the Frame Arms series, it doesn't come with a complete Architect frame — instead, only a single body runner from the Architect is included.

Because it doesn't make direct use of the Architect frame itself, the overall joint structure and layout is quite different from the standard Frame Arms kits. In particular, adopting its own independent joints has made it significantly larger — roughly the size of an MG Nu Gundam, if you want a comparison. At the same time, the joints have gotten noticeably stiffer, so the overall stability feels like a big improvement.

The problem is that the joints are stiff to the point of being awkward to work with, and the balance between them doesn't feel great. The shoulders in particular are a real pain — even the slightest movement tends to pop them right out. The shoulder rotation is stiff, but the ball joint that actually holds the shoulder in place is weak, which causes the issue — it's a pretty baffling joint strength imbalance that feels like a design oversight. That said, setting the shoulders aside, the rest of the joints are (excessively) solid and the articulation is excellent, so it's actually a kit that poses quite well.

For weapons, you can mix and match various parts to build a handgun and a laser rifle, and a cannon/sensor for the shoulder and a sword are also included.
It's a fresh kit in many ways, but it feels a bit too far removed from what you'd expect from the Frame Arms series. That said, it's a sturdier kit than the standard Frame Arms lineup, so if the style appeals to you, it's definitely a unique kit worth giving a shot :-)
