Kotobukiya Frame Arms Girl

Sylphy

Kit Review

Straight build

A new type of kit has joined Kotobukiya's flagship Frame Arms Girl lineup — Sylphy in a chibi form. It's about half the size of a regular Frame Arms Girl kit, with both the face and body done in a young child style.

True to Kotobukiya form, it's made up of a surprisingly large number of parts for its size, and thanks to that, even a straight build delivers excellent color separation and visuals. What's especially impressive is that despite the small size, it's packed with various articulation gimmicks that deliver a jaw-dropping level of poseability — the arms and legs fold up nicely, and with the hip slide gimmick on top of that, you're getting articulation on par with a top-tier Gunpla.

Because it's so small, joint strength isn't an issue — if anything, the joints feel slightly stiff. That actually works in your favor, letting you hold all kinds of dynamic poses and display it stably. The weapon accessories aren't the most varied, but you can detach and reattach the twin tails, knee armor, wings, and so on.

That said, ¥4,500 for something this tiny does make you think — yep, that's Kotobukiya value for you! (that's sarcasm..) Still, it's plenty cute and the build quality feels solid, so if this style is your thing, it's a fun kit I'd definitely recommend. :-)
