Kit Review
Straight build
With Ver. 2, the skirts now move individually and can raise up slightly,
and a gimmick was added that lets you pull the hip joint down a bit, which does give the thighs a slightly wider range of motion.

The original Frame Arms Girl — Gourai — has been upgraded and released as Gourai-Kai Ver.2. The original Gourai, being the first kit in the series, had some shortcomings in terms of joint strength. It was fine right after building, but repeated posing caused some joints to gradually loosen up.
With this Ver.2, the hip joint strength that was a weak point before feels like it's been clearly improved — the overall rigidity of the body has been solidly upgraded. On top of that, the skirts have been changed to individual moving parts and a gimmick was added to pull the hip joint down slightly, which has also increased the range of leg motion. The difference might not look huge in photos, but when you actually pose it by hand, it does feel more manageable than Ver.1. That said, it doesn't quite feel like the dramatic improvement in leg articulation that was advertised before release — it's more of a modest structural refinement.
Beyond these structural upgrades, the design has also been partially changed with the addition of "Kai" (改) to the name. Shoulder armor has been added, the head unit and front leg armor designs have been changed, and the weapon has been swapped out for a rail gun. The chest armor in particular now offers a total of 6 options to choose from, and the head unit can be configured in 3 different ways, so the variety of options has really expanded. Detail-wise, the caterpillar tracks on the back of the legs have been upgraded to be even more intricate.
The rail gun now comes with parts to lock it onto the forearm, which holds it very securely. Combined with the improved body joint strength, posing has become a lot easier. However, when the rail gun is fixed to the forearm, the wrist joint can sometimes pop out a bit due to the positioning, so you do need to carefully adjust the angle when gripping the rail gun to make sure the wrist doesn't stick out too far.
All in all, this is an upgrade kit that improves on the original Gourai in a number of ways, and even if you've already built the original Frame Arms Girl Gourai, it seems well worth reinvesting in — it's a solid version-up kit. :-)
