Kotobukiya Grande Scale

Architect

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Architect released as part of the Frame Arms Girl Grande Scale line. Just like the previous entries, Frame Arms Girl Architecthas been scaled up into a larger kit. The parts layout is basically an expanded copy of the original Architect overall, though the chest area has slightly more refined color separation.

The basic characteristics are the same as the previous entries, but the joint strength balance feels subtly improved. Compared to the three previous Grande Scale kits (Gourai, Innocentia, and Stiletto), the articulation is on par, but the joint strength feels more consistently solid across the board. The previous Stiletto in particular had a waist joint breakage issue, but thankfully this kit goes together without any problems. Either way, thanks to the improved overall quality and solid joint strength, poses hold well no matter what position you put it in.

On the downside, there are absolutely no weapons or accessories included, so you're limited to swapping hands and striking various poses. A few bonus joint parts are provided, but without any built-in weapons they don't really have much use.

All that said, this seems to be the most well-rounded Grande Scale release yet, with solid stability that really holds up given its size. Hopefully future kits will have their joints tuned this well too. Either way, it's a very well-made large-scale girl pla, and the satisfaction that comes from the sheer size is pretty significant — it's a shame that's hard to convey through photos alone, but if you're a girl pla fan, this is definitely a series worth trying at least once. :-)
