Kotobukiya Frame Arms Girl Hand Scale

Gourai

Kit Review

Straight build

As a spin-off lineup from Frame Arms Girl, the Frame Arms Girl Hand Scale Gourai has been released. True to its name, it's a compact 7.5cm kit that fits right in the palm of your hand — the same size as a Hexa Gear humanoid kit. Despite being an incredibly small kit, the careful color separation and paint applications are all there, giving it a level of detail that holds its own against a regular Frame Arms kit.

As you can see in the comparison photos above, aside from the chest, elbows, and a few other areas, it shows proportions and color reproduction nearly on par with the existing Frame Arms kits. The articulation is similar too, and even the gimmick where the caterpillar tracks at the back of the feet deploy has been faithfully recreated. On top of that, there's even a tiny hip joint extension gimmick — it really feels like Kotobukiya's take on an RG. Being so small, joint strength isn't really an issue, but the sliding hip joints do tend to come out easily, so you'll want to pull them out with just the right amount of force.

The weapons and accessories are equally well-done, and joint parts for compatibility with existing accessories as well as stand joint parts are included as extras. A blank face for painting and waterslide decals are also provided — it's a really thorough package overall.

So aside from the price being a bit steep for the size (¥2700) and the parts being really tiny, this thing shows a surprisingly impressive level of quality. It almost feels like they just took the existing kit and shrunk it down as-is. Either way, this new attempt at an ultra-compact girlpla seems like quite a success :-)
