Kotobukiya Frame Arms Girl Hand Scale

Baselard

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Baselard released as a Frame Arms Girl Hand Scale. The basic format is similar to previous releases, but what sets it apart is that it fully recreates both Baselard's distinctive base body state and armed state. It's probably the most voluminous and precisely detailed Hand Scale kit released so far.

First off, it does a great job of faithfully recreating many of the original Baselard's gimmicks in miniature — including attaching and detaching the weapon pack, separating all four segment rifles, and swapping out the sub-arm weapons and hands. The weapon pack's detailed moving parts are well reproduced too, making a wide variety of dynamic and varied poses possible.

The one downside is that the hand grip is weak, making it hard to hold the segment rifles straight. That said, all the other articulation joints and weapon attachment points are solid enough that you don't need to worry about poses holding once set.

All in all, this kit reproduces the design better than expected for its small size, and everything except the hand grip holds together solidly. The parts are still tiny enough that assembly can be quite challenging for adult male hands, but if you're into small, detailed kits, this one should be a fun build. :-)
