Kotobukiya Frame Music Girl Hand Scale

Hatsune Miku

Kit Review

Straight build

As a collaboration between Frame Arms Girl Hand Scale and Frame Music Girl, the Frame Music Girl Hand Scale Hatsune Miku has been released. It's essentially Miku built in the Hand Scale format that fits right in the palm of your hand, and the basic joint layout and product concept are the same as the Frame Arms Girl Hand Scale.

It's incredibly tiny, as expected, but the parts breakdown is done pretty well, giving it a decent straight build look. Look closely and you'll notice the color separation is a bit lacking here and there compared to the Frame Music Girl Miku, but considering the size, it holds up pretty well. The basic joint layout is the same as the existing Hand Scale kits, but the front skirt is now articulated, which gives the hip joints a wider range of motion. The joints themselves are on the sturdy side, so posing is pretty easy. On top of that, just like the previous releases, you can swap between 2 different face parts, and the accessories include a microphone and stand, so you can set up all kinds of fun scenes.

To sum it up, the quality and overall package are pretty much identical to the existing Hand Scale kits, but what makes this one special is that it features the hugely popular character Miku. The ¥2,800 price tag for something barely the size of your finger is still a bit of a tough sell value-wise, but if you're a Miku fan, this seems like a kit well worth building. :-)
