Kotobukiya Nonscale

Grapearl ~ General

Kit Review

Straight build

The last of the three Kotobukiya Grapearl ~ General kits released simultaneously is the general unit —
the mass-production Grapearl. It differs from the Gimmy and Darry units in its head and weapons.
Since the basic structure and characteristics are 100% identical to the other Grapearls,
for a detailed look at the construction please refer to the Grapearl Gimmy
custom unit review
.

It's kind of amusing how generously Kotobukiya just went ahead and pumped out three color variants in one shot without any buildup — but since the three units have such different colorways, each one has its own distinct charm to build. Line all three up together and you've got a really colorful, impressive little collection.

Unless you're a Gurren Lagann fan, this probably isn't a kit that'll grab you — but for fans, it's definitely one of those "just glad it exists" kits. The build experience is decent enough and the finished result is satisfying... the real issue, though, is that it's HG-sized but priced like an MG ;

Hopefully Kotobukiya will release other Gurren Lagann units in this same colorful collection format someday... hmm hmm...
