Governor Para-pawn Enclosure

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Governor Para-pawn Enclosure released as part of the Hexa Gear series. It's based on the body of the existing Hexa Gear Governor Ignite Spartan, with a new set of armor applied on top. Along with a new backpack and weapons that can transform into a spider-type alternative, the head has also been changed to a new one.

The body itself, excluding the head, shares the same structure as the original kit, so it still delivers excellent articulation and joint strength. On the back, a spider-inspired backpack and various weapons have been added. A flail and shield have been newly included as armaments, and by detaching and reassembling the armor, you can configure the spider-type alternative. In that case, even the main body's head gets mounted onto the spider-type alternative, leaving the body as a headless ghost (..…).

Carrying a large load on its back puts it at a disadvantage in terms of weight balance, but since the kit is light and the joint strength is solid, standing it upright isn't much of an issue. That said, with so many things hanging off it, the weapon arrangement tends to get thrown off during posing, which can make the proportions look a bit off. So getting a variety of poses out of it is a little tricky. The head in particular pops off way too easily, so you'll want to be careful not to bump it while posing.

The biggest disappointment with this kit is probably the gap between the promo photos and the actual product. Unlike the promotional images and box art that showed off a striking black-and-gold combination, the actual kit has a rather plain, deep navy-blue coloring overall. It's less about the molded color itself being a problem, and more about the gold accent coloring being left out entirely. Compared to the impressive promo shots, the real thing feels noticeably plain, so the gap is pretty significant.

As a kit whose highlights are its distinctive visuals and the spider-type alternative configuration, it makes good use of the excellent Ignite body as its base. That said, the gap from the promo shots, the head that pops off too easily, and the sheer number of moving parts make this one that'll be hit or miss depending on the person. Either way, it's a drawback that Hexa Gear fans can probably live with — but if you're not particularly a fan of the series, it's hard to give this one a full recommendation. :-)
