Kotobukiya Hexa Gear

Governor Zoanthropus-Lowe

Kit Review

Straight build

This is the Governor Zoanthropus-Lowe, released as part of Kotobukiya's Hexa Gear series. Like its predecessor the Governor Pawn F: Expander, it has a somewhat stocky build, and thanks to its solid, sturdy joints it holds poses really well. (That said, it's still a tiny little kit.)

As always, the kit manages to pull off a high-quality humanoid soldier figure in a small package, combining plenty of partial painting and soft parts. On top of that, it offers decent articulation and joint strength, making it even easier to pose than previous releases. You can get a good variety of poses out of it using the two Gram Cutters on the back and the three types of soft hands.

On the downside, the optional parts and weapons are a bit sparse, which can feel a little bare — though it does give the overall package a clean, no-frills feel. It is compatible with other Hexa Gear vehicles, but the stocky build tends to cause a lot of interference, making it a bit tricky to actually get the figure seated properly.

It's a solid enough Hexa Gear humanoid soldier kit, but the ¥2,400 price tag is still a tough pill to swallow for something that fits in the palm of your hand. The value isn't great, but among Hexa Gear soldier kits it's one of the more consistently well-made ones, so it's worth recommending if you're into the line. :-)
