Bulkarm Glanz

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Bulkarm Glanz, released as part of the Hexa Gear series. The name might make it sound like a variation of the previously released Bulkarm Alpha, but while some of the skeleton parts are reused, the overall design is completely new. That said, the chunky, hefty volume that's characteristic of the Bulkarm series is still very much alive and well.

First off, the joints throughout are quite solid, which means even with that large, heavy body the kit holds its poses really well. It feels like extra attention was paid to joint strength, probably because of the transformation gimmick. The cockpit hatch opens up really wide both front and back, though the cockpit itself is a bit tight, so getting a humanoid Hexa Gear kit seated inside is a bit of a struggle. (You're basically cramming them in..)

On the weapons side, you only get a single simple rifle, and the chunky design makes it a bit tricky to pull off dynamic poses. As such, this kit seems to be more about the transformation into vehicle mode than the humanoid form — and it transforms perfectly into a racing car that feels straight out of Cyber Formula. The transformation process itself is fairly clean, but more than anything, the vehicle mode locks together solidly and looks great. On top of that, all the wheels actually spin, so you can set it down and roll it around like a minicar (...)

In the end, there's not much going on outside of the transformation, but it's a durable kit and the transformation itself is a pretty strong selling point. If you were a fan of Transformers that turned into cars, this is definitely a kit you'll have a blast with :-)
