Governor Armor Type : Pawn A1 Ver.1.5

Kit Review

Straight build

The Hexa Gear Governor Armor Type : Pawn A1 has been upgraded and released as v1.5. The Hexa Gear humanoid kits have always had great build quality and articulation, but there were some shortcomings in joint strength and parts retention. This upgraded version was released in response to that user feedback.

First off, the parts that were previously made of soft PVC have been changed to hard PS plastic, which improves joint strength and makes painting and modifying much easier. The issue of the waist ball joint popping out has been structurally addressed for better retention, and they've also fixed some areas where joints were subtly interfering with each other. As a result, the joint strength has improved to the point where it almost feels a bit stiff, and parts that used to feel loosely attached now lock in solidly.

Articulation is similar to before, but with the skirt switching from soft material to PS plastic, the range of hip joint movement has decreased. On the flip side, a joint for moving the neck forward and backward has been added.

Overall, the weapon loadout, looks, and articulation are pretty much the same as before, with the main improvements being joint strength and parts retention. If you want to nitpick the exterior changes, the molded color of some parts on the head and sides has changed — but it's not very noticeable.

Anyway, since there's barely any visual difference, it's a bit of an awkward item for those who already own the original version. That said, if you're looking to pick up a Pawn A1 for the first time, I'd definitely recommend going with the v1.5. :-)
