BA Loudgale

Kit Review

Straight build

This is the BA Loudgale, released as part of the Hexa Gear series. It's a variation kit of the previously released Bulk Arm Granz, sharing a similar overall structure and transformation gimmick — though only the basic framework is shared, as the external design and style have been significantly changed.

First off, it has an even beefier build than the Bulk Arm Granz, with the larger wheels in particular adding a real sense of weight to the lower body. That does limit articulation quite a bit, but this is the kind of kit that looks great even in a simple pose. The Monster Barrett is a newly added weapon that can be split into the upper grenade launcher and lower shotgun for separate use, with the launcher's rounds and each loading gimmick reproduced in an interesting way. The rifle is the same as the Bulk Arm Granz's, but you can now attach an elongated double magazine, which is a nice difference. On top of that, two laser cutter effect parts are included and can be mounted on the forearms.

The cockpit hatch opening mechanism has more sections and moving points than the Bulk Arm Granz, though it's still a bit cramped for seating a Governor figure. The transformation process is broadly similar to the Bulk Arm Granz, but the end result looks completely different. While the Bulk Arm Granz had the feel of a futuristic racing vehicle, this kit gives off more of a military buggy vibe built for desert combat.

Along with the complex transformation gimmick, the relatively solid joint strength gives this kit a reassuringly sturdy feel. The vehicle mode holds together well too, so if you're into transforming robot kits like this, it should be a pretty satisfying build. :-)
