Kotobukiya Hexa Gear

Sieg Springer

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Sieg Springer from Kotobukiya's Hexa Gear series. It's a unicorn-type quadruped mech sized just right for carrying Governor series figures — though it did come out a bit bigger than I expected.

True to its horse-like mech design, there are tons of joints all over the body — neck, waist, and legs — which lets you pull off quite a variety of poses. Joint strength is solid too, so everything holds well. The two tail strands are flexible and move freely in any direction, and you can add clear effect parts to them in the spread-out position to use them like wings.

The recommended pairing is naturally the Governor Ignite Spartan released alongside it, and the two are a perfect match in both color and style. There's also a secondary fixing pin hidden inside the tail that you can connect to the Governor's back when mounting to improve stability — though honestly, the riding pose stays pretty stable even without it. On top of that, you can swap the head out for a step unit to mount the Governor up there, which gives you a sort of centaur-like silhouette that's pretty cool in its own right.

All in all, this is a well-made quadruped mech with solid gimmicks, articulation, and joint strength across the board — and it's a kit that'll be even better if you build it together with the Governor Ignite Spartan. :-)
