As a limited edition version of the Linebarrel kit, the Linebarrel mode-B Kizaki Emi Ver. has been released. It's called a limited edition, but it was released pretty much the same way as the regular version — though I suppose the idea is to keep reprints to a minimum.
The Linebarrel mode-B is a custom color version for the original pilot Kizaki Emi, essentially the same unit as the existing Linebarrel but with the color scheme changed to a black-based palette. By the way, early in the story there's this setup where the main character has to touch Kizaki Emi's chest for the Linebarrel to sortie.. (wh.. what the heck..)
Quite a few parts have been hand-painted due to the color changes, but once you actually put it together, it doesn't look anywhere near as colorful as the original;; It seems like the hand-painting was done purely to achieve the new color scheme without changing the runners. That said, as is typical with darker color schemes, it does have a heavy, powerful look to it.
For the overall kit quality and characteristics, please refer to the existing Linebarrel
review— and as you'd expect from a recent Kotobukiya kit, articulation and joint strength are generally excellent. Also, being a limited edition and all, it does include a separate exclusive Linebarrel display stand, but the price went up by ¥400. This seems to be not just because of the added stand, but also to cover the labor costs from the significantly increased hand-painting.
Either way, it should be a pretty interesting kit for Linebarrel fans.
