The second kit in Kotobukiya's Armor Musume series has arrived — LBCS: The Emperor Katakura Sophia. Much like the previous LBCS: Achilles Mikazuki Karina, the overall package is very similar, and it still sits a notch above Frame Arms Girl or Megami Device in terms of quality.
For starters, just like Mikazuki Karina, it comes with a high-quality cape made from a combination of fabric and wire, so you can bend and pose it at all sorts of angles and have it hold its shape. On top of that, the color separation and molded colors look great, and the joint strength is solid enough to hold a stable pose even while gripping that big hammer. The lower body is wrapped in a skirt and cape, so leg articulation can feel a bit restricted, but since the skirt opens up in multiple stages, the hip joint range of motion is actually quite decent.
A total of 4 hand types are included, and you can choose from 4 facial expressions as well. There are support parts for a stand included to help hold up the big, heavy hammer, but the kit's joint strength is good enough that it holds up fine without them. A simple stand is also included in the box — which is a good thing, since the skirt is large and heavy toward the back, making it a bit tricky to stand on its own without one.
All in all, this is a top-tier girlpla in every way — visuals, parts selection, you name it. If the style appeals to you, this one's definitely worth a strong recommendation. :-)
