TRANSFORMATION : RECKLESS MODE
Kotobukiya has released Dorcus as part of their Medabots lineup. It shares a similar silhouette with the previously released Rokusho, but the design details are completely different — it's a brand new kit. The joint structure using ball-joint polycaps is the same as previous releases.
To be honest, the early Medabots kits had pretty poor joint strength due to the iffy ball joints, but it feels like things have been gradually improving as the line went on. By the time we get to Dorcus, the joints are noticeably more stable, making it a lot easier to get good poses.
Weapons include a hammer and a knife, and thanks to the flexible ball joints, you can pull off all kinds of dynamic poses. Like some previous kits, speech bubble paper is also included, and there's a transformation feature into Reckless Mode as well. The transformation process isn't overly complicated, and it feels like it captures the look from the original source material pretty well.
The Medabots series seems to put out roughly one kit every year or two, but it feels like the line keeps going thanks to a dedicated fanbase for the original manga and games. If you're a Medabots fan, this is probably the most recommended kit in the lineup right now — the latest release with the most solid quality. :-)
