The sixth kit in the Medabots robot character lineup is Saikachis. Design-wise it follows the same concept as the Gunnose–Metabee line, but what sets it apart is the built-in transformation gimmick.
The basic setup is the same as previous kits — you get a face visor that swaps out 4 ways, a medal storage function, and 3 hand parts. The articulation is the worst in the series, probably because of the transformation gimmick. More than the articulation itself, the bigger problem is that the polycap ball joints don't hold well, so the limbs keep popping off constantly during posing T_T This wobbly joint issue is common across the previous kits too, but Saikachis seems to have it the worst of the bunch.
Setting aside the joints and articulation, the straight build looks the most striking of any kit in the Medabots series. The transformation gimmick that shifts the limbs into a bike-shaped Reckless Mode is a pretty fresh touch. At a glance it might just look like it's lying face-down, but there's actually quite a bit of rotation and transformation going on to pull it off convincingly.
Either way, this kit has a bit of a split personality — it's the most visually impressive in the Medabots lineup, but also the one with the shakiest joints. On top of that, it's got a transformation feature that none of the other kits have, so it definitely stands out in its own way. It's a kit made for Medabots fans at the end of the day, but if you're picking just one from the series, Saikachis is probably the most fun of the bunch. :-)
