KWG06-C Tyrell Beetle has been released as part of Kotobukiya's Medabots lineup. It's got a striking design thanks to those large binders behind the shoulders, which also make the kit feel much bigger than it actually is. In many ways, this feels like a distinctly different design compared to the previous releases.
Above all, the articulation is excellent — even demanding poses like a kneeling position are pulled off well. And with four clear beam sword parts, you can pull off some pretty flashy poses too. Joint strength isn't perfect, but it's solid enough to hold action poses reasonably well.
The Medabots series has generally had poor joint strength due to its simple ball joints, but despite being the largest kit in the lineup, KWG06-C Tyrell Beetle actually has the best joint strength of the bunch. That said, joints still pop off quite a bit during posing and transformation, which is a bit annoying — though it's still an improvement over the previous releases.
Like the previous Arc Beetle Dash, transformation into Mighty Reckless Mode is possible here too. The transformation is relatively clean, and the stability after transforming isn't bad either. With the addition of auxiliary parts, the combination with Arc Beetle Dash's Reckless Mode is also recreated — though Arc Beetle Dash's poor joint stability made the combining process take quite a while. T_T
Anyway, while it's improved, the joint strength is still not entirely satisfying. That said, overall build quality outside of the joints is quite good. Since this is ultimately a kit made for Medabots game fans, for some people it's probably just great that it exists at all. :-)
