Chaos & Pretty Magical Girl has been released as the 7th Megami Device kit. It's the 7th kit in the line, but since they've been released as couples in pairs of two, this is effectively the 4th distinct Megami Device style. Unlike the previous combat soldier-themed kits, this one comes as a bright and cheerful girlpla.
First thing that catches your eye is how much more elaborate and generous the contents are compared to previous kits. There are 8 clear runners, and the volume of accessories far outweighs the main body itself. The body can be converted between chibi mode and armed mode, and visually it feels more feminine than just about any other girlpla out there. The face can also be swapped between 3 expressions, and each one came out more distinctive and prettier than those in previous kits.
The articulation is quite flexible, much like previous kits, and the joints are on the stiff side — which is great for holding poses, but the balance isn't quite right, so things like the shoulders popping off can be an issue. Also, some of the weapons are large and heavy, so keeping the arms raised can be a struggle at times.
Combining the many accessory parts lets you build all sorts of different weapon configurations, and beyond what the manual suggests, there's plenty of room for creative combinations of your own. With this much freedom in weapon building, individual weapon names aren't provided — which is a bit of a hassle, but it does let you put together a real variety of looks. (Taking photos for the review was quite a workout, I'll say that much.)
Anyway, this is yet another Megami Device with a brand-new concept — unlike the previous combat soldier-type kits and Frame Arms Girl, this one is all about cuteness and prettiness. It feels like the most girlpla-like kit out of all the girlplas released so far, and with great build quality and a generous accessory lineup, it's a lovely kit I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys girlplas. :-)
