Kotobukiya Megami Device

Kaede Agatsuma

Kit Review

Straight build

The latest Megami Device kit features Kaede Agatsuma from the mobile game "Alice Gear Aegis." Rather than an original Megami Device character, this is an outside character brought into the Megami Device format — and the concept fits perfectly, as she's exactly the kind of girl character that suits the line.

The basic setup stays true to the existing Megami Device concept, and aside from some of the frame and effect parts, most of it is made up of newly designed parts. The body offers solid articulation and joint strength, and the more detailed color separation gives it a strikingly gorgeous look that's among the best in the lineup.

On top of the nicely colored weapons, a good number of effect parts are included, making some really flashy poses possible. The backpack weapons articulate smoothly, and the thigh mechanism deployment gimmick is also implemented, so you can recreate a wide variety of pose combinations.

With so many things hanging off the kit, some parts can fall off during posing — the small mechanisms attached to the sides of the shoulders in particular seem like they'd be safer to just glue down. On top of that, the neck parts kept popping out the back during posing, so in my case I ended up gluing those down too.

So while this is a new character kit with a clean look and excellent build quality, it comes in at a top-of-the-line price of ¥7,400 — likely factoring in the licensing costs along with the generous contents. If you can get past the price, though, it's a really fun girlpla well worth enjoying. :-)
