Kotobukiya Megami Device

Buster Doll Paladin

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Buster Doll Paladin, the third release in Kotobukiya's Buster Doll series. Following the same concept as before, Buster Doll Gunner's Machinika Block2-M base body is reused as-is. This time around, the concept is a swordswoman wielding a greatsword.

The base body and overall construction follow the same approach as the previous releases, so the four modes — base body / costume / Light Armor / Full Armor — are all still here. It comes with large head antenna and shoulder decorations/cape attached, but the joint strength and part connections are solid enough that stability isn't something you need to worry about. That said, the joint can break easily when posing the large, heavy back of the head — particularly, the weaker joint parts can snap if you rotate it. Thankfully there's one spare joint part included so you can swap it out, but you'll want to be careful about breakage when rotating the back of the head.

Since this is very much a variation kit following a well-established format, for this review you really just need to take a good look at the new swordswoman-style visuals. The quality of the base body is excellent, so if the style appeals to you, this is a kit you can grab without hesitation. :-)
