The Desire Maiden Raider has been released as a new sub-series under Kotobukiya's Megami Device line. The body reuses the Machineca Block 2-M from the Buster Doll/Puni Mofu series. While the body itself is the same, the styling and accessories have been significantly changed, resulting in a brand-new character with a big bat-like vibe.
First off, since it uses the top-tier Machineca Block body frame, excellent articulation and solid joint strength come as standard. On top of that, the new parts also clip together really well, so despite all the stuff hanging off it, everything stays firmly in place overall. I especially like how the large wings have multiple joints throughout, yet hold their position no matter what angle you put them at. Kotobukiya's snap-fit engineering has clearly reached a pretty high level by now — even a complex design like this manages to hold up with great durability.
The Body Mode and Costume Mode functionality works the same as before. For the back of the head, you can choose between two-tone sheep horns or twin-tail hair. Weapons include two each of Blade A, Blade B, and the dagger, and Blade A/B can be stored in the wings. All of these weapons connect to the hands securely, so there are zero grip issues.
So here we have a new sub-series with a fresh design built on that excellent body frame. The visuals are great, and the durability and build quality are solid too — if the style appeals to you, this is definitely a kit worth recommending without hesitation. :-)
