A new kit has been added to the Muv-Luv non-scale lineup — which is mostly made up of variations — in the form of the Su-37UB Terminator. In English it's "Terminator," but since this unit operates under Russian service, it ends up being called "Chyorminater" in Russian pronunciation.
First off, the Terminator's defining feature is the camouflage pattern covering its entire body. Reproducing that with painted parts would've been a real stretch, so they've gone ahead and included a massive amount of waterslide decals instead. -_- There are so many decals that anyone planning to paint it would probably find masking easier than applying all those decals, so I doubt many people will actually bother putting them all on. Either way, those large waterslide decals are part of why the price came out a few hundred yen higher than usual.
The design itself is all-new, but the overall structure and format faithfully follows the typical Muv-Luv kit formula. That said, it's built around revised polycaps, so the joint strength has improved quite a bit. Compared to the first-release Takemikazuchi, the joints are leaps and bounds better, making it relatively easier to hold poses. Still, there are a lot of accessories hanging off it and plenty of spots where the snap-fit is a bit flimsy, so it's still a bit nerve-wracking to build without glue T_T
For unique weapons, there are blades that mount on the forearms, reproduced cleanly as swappable parts. A total of four rifles are included — you can have two on the back and hold two in the hands — and parts are also provided to recreate the signature Muv-Luv quad-gun setup. And when doing the quad-gun pose, unlike other units, the sub-arms connect above the shoulders rather than below, which is a pretty unique configuration.
The Terminator's strong suit is its articulation — it has the best range of motion among Muv-Luv kits, so pulling off a kneeling pose is a breeze, and it's a fun kit to pose in all sorts of ways. The hip joint range of motion in particular is on par with a decent A-tier MG, which genuinely impressed me. Ironically though, the weapon loadout is relatively sparse compared to previous kits, so there are limits to how many different armed poses you can pull off. ^^;
Either way, for Muv-Luv fans this means one more unique new mech added to the roster, so for those who've gotten a bit tired of the Shiranui and Takemikazuchi, this should be a refreshing change of pace :-)
