Kotobukiya Muv-Luv

Mig-23 Cheburashka -Theodor Eberbach ki

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the Mig-23 Cheburashka -Beatrix ki-, the Cheburashka -Theodor Eberbach ki- was released in quick succession. Since it's the same type of unit, the body construction is completely identical except for the head, making this essentially a kit with an overall molded color change.

The newly added head is similar to the earlier Mig-21 Balalaika -Eberbach ki-, but with a new head antenna shape, giving it a fresh look. Aside from the head design and molded color, there's really nothing new here, so all the characteristics are the same as the previous Cheburashka. The quality falls a bit short compared to the Balalaika, but the overall articulation and joint strength are actually pretty decent for a Kotobukiya kit. The hip joints are a bit too stiff and tend to pop out during posing, though I suppose that's still better than being too loose.

Muv-Luv, by the nature of the series, lends itself easily to variations of the same unit for each pilot — but at least in this kit's case, the molded color is quite different from the Beatrix ki-, so it does feel noticeably distinct. The catch, though, is that it shares the same molded color as the Mig-21 Balalaika, so you might actually end up confusing the two instead. ^^;

Anyway, this is one of the latest Muv-Luv kits and delivers above-average quality, so if you're a Muv-Luv fan with a soft spot for the Cheburashka or Eberbach, this is definitely a kit worth having fun with.
