As a partial variation of the Shiranui Second, the Shiranui Storm Vanguard / Strike Vanguard kit has been released. Since about half the runners have been replaced with new parts, it feels quite different from what you'd call a simple color variant. ^^ The color scheme is a fresh, bright sky blue too.

As the name suggests, they say you can recreate both the Storm Vanguard and Strike Vanguard configurations — but in practice, it's basically just Storm Vanguard with the shield on the left arm, and Strike Vanguard without it. Since almost everything except the torso and feet is a new design, it does feel pretty fresh, and the cool shield that no other kit has gives it a bit more flair. Joint strength and articulation are solid, there's a dedicated stand included as a first-run limited bonus for action poses, and there's really nothing major to complain about.

Anyway, the kit's main issue is the source unit's recognition and popularity, but looking at the kit itself, it's one of the cleanest among the Muv-Luv lineup. If you like the design, it's a fun mecha kit well worth building. :-)
