This kit is a color variant of the Shiranui Second, going by the rather lengthy name of Shiranui Second : Isumi Valkyries. As the name implies, it's a straight-up color variant with nothing new whatsoever — just the molded colors changed.

The whole body is based on two shades of gray — dark gray and light gray — which gives it a somewhat drab feel, but for a Kotobukiya kit the molded colors actually came out looking pretty sharp, so it ends up looking better than you'd expect. Three of the runners are included in duplicate with different molded colors for color separation, which makes the runner count unusually generous — though on the flip side, it also means a lot of leftover parts. Since those extra runners were added purely for color separation, the price stayed the same even with 3 more runners thrown in. Kotobukiya really is generous like that. ^^)b

There's absolutely nothing new here, so don't expect any surprises — but it's a solid color variant with molded colors that look suitably heavy and tough. As a bonus, the head comes with some pre-applied paint apps too. Taking the kit on its own merits, joint strength is decent, articulation is good, and the proportions are nice as well. If you haven't built a Shiranui Second before, this is definitely worth recommending — a great kit for Muv-Luv fans. :-)
