The third version of the Shiranui, the Phase 3, has been released in the 1/144 lineup as Shiranui Second Phase 3 (Yuya's). At first glance, it looks similar to the existing Shiranui (Yuya's) since they share the same color scheme, but look closer and you'll see it's actually an entirely new kit with redesigned parts across the board.
That said, since it sticks so closely to the original concept, it's hard to shake the feeling that it looks like more of the same even with the design changes — can't really help that ^^; Still, one notable improvement is that the weapons mount behind the shoulders rather than the back, like on the Black Widow II, which makes posing noticeably easier.
The overall package is pretty much in line with the standard Muv-Luv 1/144 lineup, but one odd thing stands out — the joint strength is noticeably worse than other 1/144 kits;; One of the advantages the 1/144 scale has over non-scale kits is that the smaller, lighter size means good stability even with lots of parts hanging off it, but for some reason this kit shows the same floppy joint tendencies you'd expect from a non-scale kit, making it really hard to hold a pose.
The legs are fine, but the waist, shoulders, back weapons, and even the binders on the rear all feel loose across the board. It's almost like the tolerances were never adjusted during the prototype stage. So while the design looks flashy and great, it's frustrating to handle and the usual 1/144 advantages just aren't there.
Setting aside the joint strength issues, this is genuinely a great-looking kit with the most striking styling of any Shiranui to date — but the fact that even a standing pose is a struggle on something this small is a real letdown. Still, despite those drawbacks, there's definitely something to be said for the fact that this is the first time the third Shiranui has ever been made into a plastic model kit. :-)
