Kotobukiya Muv-Luv 1/144

Shiranui 2nd : Yuya Bridges Ki

Kit Review

Straight build

The third entry in the Muv-Luv 1/144 series is the Shiranui Second — specifically the Yuya Bridges Ki. It looks similar to the previous Shiranui Imperial Japan Spec, but the "Second" unit has a completely different design in various areas.

Like the previous kits, this one goes together easily with far fewer parts than the non-scale version, and even with all the bits hanging off it, the smaller size and lighter weight make it much easier to handle. The simplified parts breakdown does hurt the color separation a bit, but true to form for a Kotobukiya kit, the straight build still pulls off a pretty convincing color combination.

On top of that, the markings on the shoulders are printed right on the runner, and some parts even come with partial pre-painting, so the overall look doesn't fall too far behind the non-scale version.

All in all, it's a kit you can have a lot of fun with — decent articulation, solid joints, and a clean straight build look for its size. The light and sturdy feel in particular makes posing a breeze, which is a clear advantage over the non-scale. Personally, I still think this clean 1/144 lineup offers better value for money than the non-scale. :-)
