Kotobukiya Muv-Luv 1/144

F-15E Strike Eagle

Kit Review

Straight build

A brand-new unit has joined the 1/144 lineup — the Strike Eagle. Since this unit has never been released even in non-scale form, it really stands out as having its own distinct personality among the many similarly-designed Muv-Luv units. ^^

The overall design takes on a more angular look compared to the Takemi Katsuji/Shiranui, while also sporting more three-dimensional and stylish binders, so there's plenty of fun to be had just appreciating the fresh design. Like the previous kits, the shoulder markings are printed directly on the parts, and the basic color separation is decent enough, so the straight build looks pretty good too.

Articulation in particular feels like a noticeable step up from the previous kits, making it easier to pull off a wider variety of poses including kneeling. The small, lightweight feel typical of 1/144 makes posing a breeze, and joint strength feels solid and stable. On top of that, the parts count is a bit simpler compared to the Takemi Katsuji and Shiranui, so the assembly process is easier and more relaxed too~

All in all, the fresh unit design is great, but overall this kit has the most polished, well-rounded quality of any Muv-Luv kit to date. Since this unit doesn't even exist in non-scale form, any Muv-Luv fan interested in this unit should probably consider it a must-buy. :-)
