Kotobukiya Muv-Luv 1/144

Takemikaduchi Type-00R

Kit Review

Straight build

The Takemikaduchi Type-00R in purple — the main unit that came out first in the non-scale lineup — ended up being the sixth release in the 1/144 scale. You'd think it would've been the first out in 1/144 as well, but somehow it ended up getting released a little late.

Since the Takemikaduchi Yuiki that came out first in 1/144 is essentially the same unit with just a different color scheme in the lore, this kit is also a simple color variant with just the molded colors swapped from the Yuiki. So the basic features are completely identical to the Takemikaduchi Yuiki, but the deeper color palette gives it a strong samurai warrior feel with its own sense of originality.

The Takemikaduchi had the weakest joints of all the non-scale kits, but in 1/144 scale, that issue is completely resolved thanks to the smaller, lighter body. The articulation and joint strength are solid, and no parts randomly pop off during posing, making it a really enjoyable action figure kit to build and play with.

That said, as you can tell from the comparison shots with the Yuiki, the overall dark color scheme makes the red clear parts nearly invisible, which really diminishes the effect of the color separation — and that's a bit of a downside. The non-scale had the same issue so there's not much you can do about it, but if you're just going by looks, the Yuiki with its brighter colors and stronger contrast is honestly a bit prettier. ^^;

Anyway, it does have its own appeal as the original Takemikaduchi, and since it's much more affordable than the non-scale, if you're a Muv-Luv fan, it's definitely worth picking up at least one 1/144 Takemikaduchi to build. ^^
