Kotobukiya Amored Core Next

CR-Hogire

Kit Review

Straight build

The third Armored Core Next kit is the Rosenthal CR-Hogire.
With its striking combination of white, black, and gold, it has a luxurious feel to its design, and Kotobukiya's signature elaborate color separation really shines in this kit. And while Kotobukiya kits often have so-so white molded colors, the white on the CR-Hogire is comparatively better, which makes the overall color feel even more pleasing.

Previous Armored Core kits had well-divided parts, but since the color combinations themselves weren't all that flashy, the fine part divisions didn't really stand out as much. With the CR-Hogire, the divided parts often each have their own distinct color, so the complex color combination you can appreciate even from a straight build is reproduced almost perfectly. The color separation on the rear is especially more impressive than the front — the color combination of the intricate parts on the back of the legs is truly beautiful..

Articulation is decent, and the joint strength throughout the body is very solid, but the ankles lack flexibility, which makes pulling off a wide variety of poses a bit tricky. Then again, this kit just oozes presence standing on its own.^^; The overall build feel is relatively smooth as well, though some parts still don't snap-fit properly, so glue is pretty much a must.

Among Kotobukiya kits, this one ranks very high in overall quality satisfaction — it's a kit I'd strongly recommend to anyone who loves getting a fantastic color combination straight out of a straight build. :-)
