There's quite a big difference in volume between the normal version and the Movie Color version stands.

The White-Glint + VOB combined set that always felt like it was just around the corner has finally been released. The sheer impact of White-Glint + VOB shown in the For Answer opening animation was absolutely incredible — and it's come out not as a simple bundle pack, but under the name "Movie Color ver."

It includes all the runners from both the existing White-Glint kit and the VOB kit, but with the Movie Color version treatment, all the white molded color now comes with a pearlescent coating — more precisely, a sparkling pearl finish in the style of an Extra Finish. The color separation has also been changed in various parts of the body, with a total of 4 additional runners included for color reproduction. On top of that, a gorgeous waterslide decal sheet, a dedicated stand with various patterns engraved on it, and mounting parts have all been added — so when you open the box, the sheer volume of the kit is just overwhelming. As a bonus, you also get what's essentially a lavish pamphlet booklet called "Armored Core Visual Art Works."

White-Glint is ¥6800 and the VOB is ¥2800, so combined that should be ¥9600 — but this kit comes in at ¥9800, a difference of just ¥200. For everything you're getting — pearl coating + waterslide decals + 4 extra runners + a special booklet — that's an absolutely incredible price increase. It's a far cry from Bandai kits, where coating alone typically bumps the price up by ¥1,000–2,000.. As expected from the generous Kotobukiya!

The quality of the pearl coating applied across all the white parts is pretty decent overall. The coating is sprayed on a little thin, so there's a slight see-through quality to it, but it's still way more premium-looking than plain white molded color. Also, thanks to the base molded color being well-chosen, gate marks are barely visible. The pearl effect doesn't come through all that clearly in photos, but you can definitely feel it in person. It feels like one of Kotobukiya kits' long-standing weak points — the molded color — has finally been properly addressed. (Well, that's kind of a given when you add a coating..;;)

Thanks to the added coating layer, the snap-fit connection has also improved a bit, reducing the number of spots that need glue — but I'd still recommend gluing the important areas. With so many parts in this kit, there are quite a few spots that could come apart from an impact. Also, as you can tell from the runner shots... the sheer part count on this kit is enormous, so expect PG-level assembly time.

The highlight of this kit is ultimately the charge pose with White-Glint and the VOB combined, and the gorgeous pearl coating makes it look even more spectacular. It does take up a lot of display space, but once you've got it set up, it really gives you that "oh yeah!!" feeling.

In the end, the Movie Color version simplifies the color separation a bit, so the intricate color detail takes a slight hit — but the pearl coating more than makes up for it, doubling the premium feel of the kit. The coating alone gives it that special, limited-edition vibe, and the fact that the price is almost identical to the normal version is a huge selling point. In short, if you're into the White-Glint + VOB combo, this is an absolute must-have.. :-)
