Omer Project Magnus

Kit Review

Straight build

After a while, a new entry in the Armored Core: For Answer series has arrived — the Omer Project Magnus, built by reusing parts from existing kits. As you can see in the comparison photos above, the upper body is taken straight from Stasis and the lower body from Aspina Fragile, making this essentially a color variant kit with just a few new weapons added.

The blue molded color does give it a fresh feel, though it doesn't exactly look premium. ^^; There's some swirl patterns visible and it has a slight candy toy vibe, which is a bit of a letdown. On the plus side, a good portion of the body's black parts have been painted in flat black, which adds a nice accent — though it's honestly hard to tell in photos.;

The articulation on both the upper and lower body isn't great to begin with, so don't expect much in the way of action poses. The missiles added to the shoulders can be swapped out to recreate the open mode, and the missiles on the back can be opened and closed via a movable mechanism. And perhaps feeling a bit guilty about just reusing the upper and lower body... they've also thrown in a separately designed head, so you can mix and match as you like.

The best thing about this kit is probably the sheer presence of its grotesque design. Just building it and putting it on display feels like enough — it commands attention on its own. It's 90% recycled parts, but either way, it's a nice little treat for Armored Core model kit fans. :-)
