Kit Review

This kit is a Metal Gear REXcolor variant of the REX released in 2012 — the Rex Black Ver. There are no new sculpt parts; it's a 100% color variant kit. But thanks to the deeper, heavier color scheme, it gives off a much stronger impression.
So all the features are identical to the original kit, and it still shows off excellent detail and sculpting, great articulation, and open hatch gimmicks. There are more articulated joints than you'd expect, so you can have a lot of fun trying out all kinds of different poses. Even when the center of gravity gets thrown off, the included stand lets you display it stably, and there are also 4 small, finely detailed figures included — pilot and all.
That said, it's a bit of a bummer that the 2023 reissue came out at ¥9,800 — a ¥2,000 jump from the original release price of ¥7,800. Sure, inflation is a factor, but a price tag creeping up toward ¥10,000 does feel like a stretch. Either way, for Metal Gear fans, this seems like a kit worth having in your collection — one you can just be grateful exists at all. :-)
