Kotobukiya Rock Man

Rockman X Force Armor

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the 1/12 Rockman X Force Armor released as part of Kotobukiya's Rockman series. It reuses some of the joints and parts from the previously released Rockman X Max Armor, but most of the outer armor parts feature new sculpts — and the color separation is just as flashy and impressive as the Max Armor was.

First off, this is a plastic model that delivers near top-tier quality in terms of straight build visuals, and that alone makes the assembly process a lot of fun. The build feel is also on the smoother side among Kotobukiya kits, giving you a really comfortable experience putting it together. Articulation and joint characteristics are similar to the previous releases, offering solid articulation and joint strength. That said, the ankle joints still tend to pop out during posing just like in the earlier kits, so that's one area that really could use some structural improvement.

For weapons, only one dedicated Buster is included, and there are no effect parts at all, so the poses you can pull off are a bit limited. Still, you do get a face-swapping gimmick with three different expressions and three types of hands, so you can at least strike some basic poses. Structurally, there isn't a whole lot of new ground to explore with this kit, so for this review you'll mainly want to sit back and take in those gorgeous straight build visuals. If you can get past the ¥6,800 price tag for the size you're getting, this is a fantastic character plastic model that's well worth enjoying. :-)
